RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States. It was founded in 1994 by Scott Berkowitz and Tori Amos, and is based in Washington, D.C.
RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (1-800-656-HOPE and through their RAINN app for smartphones) which provides 24/7 confidential support to survivors of sexual violence. The organization also works to prevent sexual violence through education, public policy, and community engagement.
RAINN's services include:
1. National Sexual Assault Hotline: confidential support for survivors
2. Online chat service: secure and anonymous support
3. Victim support services: connecting survivors with local resources
4. Education and training: for individuals and organizations
5. Public policy: advocating for laws and policies to prevent sexual violence
RAINN's mission is to "create a world where sexual violence is not tolerated and survivors receive the support they deserve."
